Review of Capita sponsored 2014 Unity Tour

On 18th July 2014, following short send-off ceremonies outside Scotland Yard and at the National Police Memorial on The Mall, 90+ cyclists from Police Forces across the UK and visitors from the US embarked on the three day Unity Tour 2014 arriving at the National Arboretum in Staffordshire to attend the Care of Police Survivors 2014 Memorial Service in remembrance of Police Officers who have lost their lives on duty.

The event was incredibly well supported along the route and, despite the weather, all the cyclists arrived safely in Staffordshire and were able to hand over an amazing £40,000 donation to COPS. Capita was delighted to have been involved in supporting the Tour providing the shirts worn by the cyclists and look forward to continuing to build on the success into 2015 and beyond.

Chief Supt Rob Atkin MBE, President of the UK Police Unity Tour, adds “Each officer taking part in the Unity Tour rides in memory of a fallen colleague and has the opportunity to present a memorial bracelet to the officer's family at the conclusion of the ride. The tour raises awareness of the ultimate sacrifice officers sometimes make in the protection of communities and at the same time raises much needed funds for UK Care of Police Survivors. We thank Capita for all their support & guidance over the previous year”
